On being thankful

I try to look for the happy stuff in life.  And why wouldn't you?  Looking at life from a glass half-empty perspective would just send me into a state of continual depression...so, focus on the good stuff.  One of the ways I do this is to list all the things I'm thankful for and lift them up to God as blessings he has given me.  Here's my list for today:
  • Conversations in the kitchen - I had a chance to spend a half-hour or so with a friend just chatting in her kitchen.  When I was growing up, I'd say most of the conversations between the women in our extended family happened in the kitchen at my grandmother's house.  Sometimes we were working, sometimes it is just where we happened to be.  There's something special about conversations in the kitchen, and I'm glad I got to be uplifted by one today.
  • Brand-new windshield wipers - it's like the equivalent of 'new car smell' for your windshield.  Or maybe like getting a new glasses prescription.  You don't know how bad things were till you get to see clearly again.  Am also thankful for the hubs who made it a priority for my car to have those wipers.
  • Highlights - my hair makes me happier when it has strands of different color in it!
  • Stroller walks - a kid with no nap + wet grass & playgrounds = a long afternoon.  So, I'm happy I have a place to go that's fun for me and fun for the kiddo. Stroller walks to waste away what might have been a super-fussy afternoon make me thankful!
